A Look Towards the Future

After 23 years in business, I continue to be excited about all that has happened at White Labs and in the industry. Innovation has always been at the core of the White Labs spirit and now, more than ever, it is apparent that it is also at the core of the industry as a whole. You, our customers, continue to push boundaries on styles and techniques and challenge us to meet your needs with new products and services.

For White Labs, 2018 saw increased yeast production from our three manufacturing facilities; San Diego, CA, Asheville, NC and Copenhagen, Denmark. Our strong partnerships with distributors and retailers helped us to further our reach to customers in all parts of the world. While we faced challenges meeting demand mid-year, we have been working hard to increase capacity, planning and processes. We have seen expansion within each of our facilities with additional Flex Cell™️ manufacturing equipment, progress made on a building expansion in San Diego, and Copenhagen celebrating a move into an entirely new facility.

Our main goal is to become the best yeast manufacturer in the world. To achieve that goal, we will continue to grow to meet our customer demands and improve processes as the industry and marketplace develop. This past year, we launched a White Labs mobile app which allows for easier, faster ordering on your mobile phone as well as support and technical assistance, including a pitch rate calculator for both hobbyists and professionals alike.

Outside of yeast manufacturing, we continued to focus on being a resource for all of your fermentation needs, from analytical services and a range of educational courses throughout the year, as well as technical talks at over 100 conferences around the world. We continually strive to share our knowledge in order to help our customers make the best products.

The White Labs Brewery and Tasting Room in San Diego and White Labs Kitchen & Tap in Asheville saw a lot of exciting changes both in our beer menus which showcase the effect yeast has in beer, as well as in our food menu in Asheville featuring a rotating number of fermented food items.

We wouldn’t be able to do all that we do without our talented and growing staff. As we roll into 2019 with 200 (and counting) employees across all locations, I am certain we will continue to achieve our goals and provide you with the best products and services.
